As of January 1, 2004, any child being transported in a school bus weighing less than 10,000 lbs. and is less than 6 yrs old and less than 55 inches tall, must be
properly fastened and secured by a child passenger restraint which is in accordance with the safety standards approved by the US Dept of Transportation in 49 CFR
section 571.213. The exception is if the child has an IEP contradicting the use of restraints.
